I've been teaching at Milnor Public School since 2007. I'm originally from Minto, ND. I attended Mayville State University and have B.S. in Business Education and a minor in Computer Information Systems. Before coming to Milnor, I taught in Lakota, ND and Ivanhoe, MN. My husband, Kelly, farms and we have 3 children, Stella (4), Abram (3), and Libby (1). I enjoy spending time with my children, hanging out with family and friends, and most sports.

1 semester – ½ Credit (18 weeks)

Students will learn to keyboard with correct posture and finger placements. Timed writings will be incorporated as well as basic computer care and use. We will learn basic word processing features and create documents like tables and letters. Students will review good digital citizenship practices. 

8th Grade Computers

1 SEMESTER – ½  CREDIT (18 WEEKS)

Students will review the keyboard with correct posture and finger placements. Timed writings will be incorporated as well as basic computer care and use. Word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and electronic presentations will also be studied. We will spend time learning digital citizenship and basic computer parts and use. There will also be an introduction to one-drive and one-note.

When we complete timed writings students scores will be calculated as follows:

50 WPM or greater = 25/25

45-50 WPM = 24/25

40-45 WPM = 23/25

35-40 WPM = 22/25

30-35 WPM = 21/25

25-30 WPM = 20/25

20-25 WPM = 19/25

15-20 WPM = 18/25




Desktop Publishing

2 SEMESTERS – 1 CREDIT

In this class, we will learn the process of creating a document that looks like a professionally designed and printed document. Includes sizing and inserting photos, graphics, and line drawings to the text copy. Instruction will be provided to create an original layout for a newsletter, catalog, brochure, and other materials that utilize different types of print. Software included will be Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. The students will also use this class to create the Yearbook and Newsletter for Milnor Public School.

Business Law

2 semesters – 1 credit

 Students will learn the basics of law in our society including the structure of our court system, ethical decision making, and criminal, civil and tort law.  Students will learn the sources of law, trial procedures, and will study particular crimes and torts.  Students will study each element of contract law and how to end contracts and breach of contracts. Students will learn about employment law and employment protection including the history of unions and collective bargaining and their rights and benefits as employees. Students will study lending and buying on credit, debt collection and checking accounts.  Students will learn the responsibilities of renting and buying a homes and apartments and insurance.  

Business Computer Applications

Students will be introduced to the Microsoft Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access. Students will learn each program by completing “hands-on” activities in all of the applications. Students will also be introduced to the Web Design program Adobe Dreamweaver and will receive some basic HTML coding instructions. 

Elementary Keyboarding

The elementary will have computer instruction for grades 3 - 6. All grades will be introduced to keyboarding with an online programs called keyboarding online.  We will also learn about digital citizenship, basic computer parts and language, and some introduction to software. Students will also use drag-and-drop programs as an introduction to coding.
