2 semesters – 1 credit

 Students will learn the basics of law in our society including the structure of our court system, ethical decision making, and criminal, civil and tort law.  Students will learn the sources of law, trial procedures, and will study particular crimes and torts.  Students will study each element of contract law and how to end contracts and breach of contracts. Students will learn about employment law and employment protection including the history of unions and collective bargaining and their rights and benefits as employees. Students will study lending and buying on credit, debt collection and checking accounts.  Students will learn the responsibilities of renting and buying a homes and apartments and insurance.
