Watch one How Its Made Video and fill out the worksheet that goes with it. Check Power School and get any assignments that are missing or 0 s in. If there is no grade, it is missing. WED and THURS I am giving you these two days to get missing work in. Please check Powerschool. Friday Weekly Journal.

4-27 to 5-1

This week you will be taking outside pictures. You need to find ten things that will look different in two week. You will take a picture of them now and then take the same picture after two weeks to show the difference. Here is and example, a tree with no leaves and then when it has leaves. Don't turn in all 10 pictures, hold on to them and I will let you know what to do after you take the second set of pictures. Friday write about your pictures in the weekly journal..

4-20 to 4-25

Monday to Thursday - There will be a bag Monday at the school with 35 Popsicle Sticks in it. You have all week to create the most amazing thing you can using only the sticks as the main structure. You can add your own stuff to it but the structure has to be of the sticks. Be Creative. Friday Journal Entry about the project.

4-14 to 4-17

Tuesday- Write in you Journal for last week. Check Powerschool for missing work. x Wednesday -Watch two 5 min How its Made Videos and fill out the worksheet. Thursday- Free Draw in Onshape Friday- Write in your Weekly Journal.

4-6 to 4-10

This week you are going to design you dream house floor plan on Onshape. I am giving you all week so am looking for a great plan, Also One day watch one of the How Its Made Youtube clips and write a response to the video. Follow the same directions as the worksheet explained last week.

3-31 to 4-3

Using Onshape, you are going to design a City Layout of your own. Include the streets and parts of your town. You need to include a Main Street, Businesses, Residential, and Entertainment Areas. Add as much detail as you can. Friday Write your Weekly Journal.

3-25 to 3-27

Wed and Thursday. Log into you Onshape Drawing account. Everyone should have one from earlier this year but if you don't, create one. You can use the your school email and the school's info. Once you are in Onshape, click on the Learning Center in the upper right corner of the page. From there you can go to the Self Paced Courses and the drop down menu and All Self Paced. Wednesday do the Intro to Sketching and Thursday the Detailed Drawing Course. They are short so you can watch them several time to make sure you have the skills. Practice what you have learned in a Onshape document you create. Friday everyone need to write in their Weekly Journal, two paragraphs and at least 15 sentences about what you learned this week.

COURSE DISCRIPTION

 

Foundations of Technology increases student’s capability by using their unique skills to innovate, improvise, and invent.  Students develop an understanding of engineering design, transforming ideas into products or systems.  They select and use manufacturing, construction and energy and power technologies in order to understand quality goods, impact of structures and the importance of energy resources.  Students also gain insights into the use of communication technologies, telemedicine and other medical technologies.  The course concludes with the synthesizing of major ideas through an understanding of the impacts the use of technology has on society and the environment. 

 

OBJECTIVES:

 

Students will learn the safety practices that are to be used and followed when working in a shop.

                       

Student will learn how to safely end effectively use equipment.

 

Students will learn the concepts about design and the processes used to construct various project based assignments.

 

Student will learn the design process, drawing, material estimating, and construction aspects of the selected project.

 

Students will learn measuring and size aspects and techniques in coloration to uses of projects and equipment.

 

 

GRADES:

           

Grades will be comprised of the following

1)      Project Grading Rubric      

2)      Daily work in the lab 10 pts per day

3)      Shop cleanup

4)      Journal of project progress, drawing, instructions, and material list 20 pts per. Journals require five sentences an entry.

 RULES

 

1)      All rules in the Milnor Park Handbook will be followed

2)      Horseplay in the shop will not be tolerated

3)      Respect others and their property

4)      Computers, tools, and equipment are not to be used without permission 

5)      Safety glasses are to be worn by all students when working is going on in shop areas even if they are not the one doing the work.

In this course students will design and build projects using Technology and Engineering practices, Project Lead The Way. They will be introduced to fundamentals processes in Problem Solving as well as the concepts in Engineering. Students will research projects and find solutions and answers to question dealing with how things work. Each tool in the shop will be discusses in detail and safety aspects will be covered. Design drawings, instructions on construction, and a detailed material lists will be created by the students as well as the actual project.

COURSE DISCRIPTION

In this course students will design and build construction projects found within the community. They will be exposed to a wide range of construction jobs, building job sites, tools and equipment, safety practices and commons procedures that are to be followed in the field of construction. They will also learn about site preparation, estimating, building codes, permits, and procedures in the building process. To study the technology involved in the construction of residential and industrial structures.  Study will include designing, planning, and constructing structures using various materials and methods.

Students will learn the safety practices that are to be used and followed when working in on a job site.

           

Student will learn how to safely end effectively use equipment.

 

Students will learn the concepts about construction and the processes used to construct small building projects.

 

Student will learn the design process, drawing, material estimating, and construction aspects of the selected projects.

 

Students will learn measuring and surveying techniques and size aspects in coloration to purpose of the building projects.
